Shanghai: Home of the nerdiest roller coaster ever

It’s next to impossible to watch Tron and not want to ride a light cycle. They’re one of the single most awesome sci-fi vehicles of all time and pop up in pop culture everywhere, from Saints Row to Futurama.

Unfortunately, there’s no easy way to acquire one, which means nerds around the world have been holding onto the dream ever since the first movie came out in 1982.

There are a few people who have created their own light cycles (here and here are a few), but the experience isn’t something that’s been widely available to the public.

Disney Shanghai is out to change all of that. They’ve introduced a new Tron roller coaster that ditches the standard seated-roll-bar-around-your-neck-with-a-bladder-crushing-seatbelt-to-hold-you-in roller coaster cars in favor of, you guessed it, sitting on a light cycle.

I don’t think I need to say anything else to explain the sheer amount of bad-assery going on here.
